Sphinn Voting System Shut! – Does it Make Sense?
Danny Sullivan, one of the great SEO’s out there and the admin of Sphinn – the forum, discussion and networking site for Search Engine Marketing professionals announced today that the voting system in Sphinn will be turned off in a week or so. The announcement is getting both positive and negative reactions from SEOs around. But the majority of the reaction is negative as expected.
Danny pointing that Facebook and Twitter is one of the major reason for Sphinn team to make this decision. He explains that as Facebook and Twitter is easy to share the news, people are hesitant to read and vote stories in Sphinn. Sounds like a kinder garden student complaint. CRAZY! I myself feels very difficult in accessing sphinn many time with the login problem they have. Also my account got suspended with out any reason, when I approached them they restored my account and send me the following message.
Hi Mercy –
Your account has been restored. Apologies for the error on our side. Don’t see any reason why your account would’ve been terminated. You should be able to login now and use the site as usual.
Matt
Its not fair just pointing Facebook and Twitter and close down the door.
We must appreciate that they have handled the SPAM submissions in the recent time effectively. In my time line, I hardly see any SPAM submissions in “Hot or Not” (new submission) listing page. At the same time they should be ready to accept comments on mods over there. When you come to social media space, its very obvious that you will be criticized publicly. Does the sphinn team agree that the discussion forum has been created for the users and not just for moderators out there! Even after the announcement the sphinn moderators get the same treatment!
As long as looking into the conversation going in the Sphinn story and twitter Danny seems to be reluctant in making any changes in the decision that has been made. The search marketers react negatively for the decision and lets see what Sphinn team decides!
Don’t forget to share your thoughts thro’ comments.
