Google Caches the Cached Pages – Another Google Failure!

Posted by Mercy Livi 21 April, 2010

Few days before there were reports from webmasterworld and SERoundtable that Google started using webcache.googleusercontent.com instead of IP address for the website/ webpage cached URLs. When I read the news I tried but could not replicate the same in my browser (webcache.googleusercontent.com). But few days ago, I too spotted webcache.googleusercontent.com being used instead of the IP address along with a strange part included.

When I explored further I found that Google also indexed and cached the pages inside webcache.googleusercontent.com. http://bit.ly/aog21g This link would give you better picture on whats being discussed. The below screenshot will give you more idea,

Google started implementing many changes and introducing many new features in the recent time but nothing going with their side.
Example, Google Buzz, Google Wave etc.

Lighter side of the game: We all know Google in very good in indexing and caching links. But the below example shows Google also caches the cached page! :) I can only say Over Done Google! (Not Well Done Google!)

Great, another possible feature to duplicate content. Hope it doesn't cause duplicate issues.

Yea you are right. After migrating from IP address based cache pages to webcache Google shows many errors. The last one I experienced is some of my blog's cached pages are pointing to some irrelevant address. Anyway I am sure Google will overcome this error.

Thanks to Mercy Livi. Thanks for the informative article, I'm glad, I am on the right track. Cached pages provide an alternative with which users can interact. They can read your content, even if your server or website is down. But, I hate Google cache. I just recently found out that it does cache on myspace profiles. It shows all of the stuff you wanted to hide and makes it public. is there anyway i can stop that from happening?
