2009 Doodle 4 Google Competition is Announced
Google announced the much awaiting “Doodle 4 Google”, a competition that invites school children to design a Google logo for the year 2009. According to Google official announcement Registration closes at 11:59:59 PM Pacific time on March 17, 2009. The terms and conditions remains the same for this year too and the registration page can be found here.
This year theme for the “Doodle 4 Google” competition is quite interesting and it is “What I Wish for the World.” The winning kid will receive a $15,000 college scholarship. Also, the school district that submits the most high-quality entries will get $10,000. Partnering with Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Google paves the path for the final 40 entries to display their design in the art gallery.
Students’ doodles will be judged on artistic merit, creativity, representation of the theme, and other criteria. A panel of independent judges and Google employees will select the top doodles across age groups. Then puplic vote will help decide select the final four. The grand prize winner will then be selected by Google and announced at an event hosted at Google’s headquarters on May 20, 2009.
